In Light of Recent Developments...
I'm sure some of you probably already know - but itch.io is doing a massive scrub of all their NSFW games due to pressure from their payment providers and certain internet activist groups. Their goal is to remove games with various themes such as Incest or Rape, which very likely means REC will be removed (due to its non-con themes).
Does this suck? Yes. Do I care? A little. Does this affect the game's development? Not really.
Why does this bother me only a little? Well, every time a product or service becomes contraband in recent history the simple concept of supply and demand comes into play. I seriously mean it when I say that I can't see this doing anything but raising the value of NSFW games as a genre. My honest prediction is that in the long term, this will make NSFW games more popular than ever, with forums like F95Zone becoming even bigger as a result.
But let's be honest, it will be difficult to market this game for a while, and I will likely take a hit to my finances for the next while. But unless it literally becomes illegal to make an adult game (which is a whole different topic), I will never stop working on REC.
Anyways, that's all I have to say on this. I don't plan on arguing or taking some sort of stand on Twitter (lowkey I abhor using social media). And I don't recommend for you to argue with these groups online either - it's a complete waste of time. You're not going to be able to explain to someone who can't distinguish reality from fiction on nuance. It's a pointless battle with no winner.
What I recommend is to take a look at signing a petition like this one to start generating some awareness that this type of behavior is not okay (or even legal) from payment processors such as Visa/Mastercard.
In light of this recent news, if you like this game and would like to help me see it to the finish line, all I ask is that you share it with a friend who might enjoy it. Or even leave a review on F95Zone. And, of course, there's always the ⭐SubscribeStar too.
Remember that you can always stay up to date with the game through F95Zone or through my Discord as well!
Okay, back to drawing sprites now. Check in with y'all soon!
TL;DR; Itch.io folded on NSFW games but it doesn't really affect our plans on completing REC.

Hello, moon, can i make mods for your game in the future?
sadge to hear. seeing as developments still continuing, got a few small suggestions.
Yuna dialogue for tv groping scene says smth along the lines of we've got school next week, this should be rewritten to fit the new 2 week cycle
Buying the mega pizza doesnt actually deduct any money as far as i've seen
A gallery of scenes that you've unlocked would give new players an idea of what content they've unlocked and what they're missing as well as allow people to re-view seen content
For the party events, a little stat on the top next to your money and stamina would probably be more convenient than occasional text updates.
Oh so thats why they were all gone
Bro where have you been for the last few days 😭. The internet is on fire about this right now.
I thought it was just on steam lol

Are belong to us.
i support you,we all love this game so much.
💖
Will the public patch (ver. 3.0.1) be updated in itch.io?
I'll check the other site (F95) since SubscribeStar is out of my budget for now...
Yay! Thank you Moondev for the update!
No problem! I totally forgot to respond to this after I updated the downloads - but you were totally the one who reminded me. Thanks!
I'm not against you or anything, but this is not the kind of game I would like for my friend to know I play T-T
All good! Don't worry, I don't expect everyone to do what I ask - it was merely a suggestion (:
Very good game hope can survive, this platform is not good to change one, spend money I also support.
it is sad,i can't find new game to play, alot of them just gone and i was not aware about this, until i went to Devlogs, and wow how pissed i am to be like this, instead of finding new things,i guess stuff gonna be like back in the days where to find things it gotta be from word, mouth to mouth (not in the weird way).
It'll suck for a bit before it gets better, but it will get better.

it's mad that some people actively want to at the very least suppress an industry (as in NSFW in general) that tends to give people with actual skill jobs, incomes etc.
Also a side affect is that a lot of users basically use this site as pornhub 2 so this isn't good for the long run of itch
They won't get very far from what I can tell. Steam was already pushing it but I think Itch.io actually might've played some 4D chess with this whole delisting situation. It's generating pushback/outrage on another level across the internet.
:( это все довольно печально
Надеюсь вы продолжаете свою работу
Я никогда не перестану работать над REC!
❤️
REC was a big surprise when I first decided to try it and I will still support it in any platform. It is unfair what's happening to this genre but hopefully we will see the rise of its value.
Everything will be alright by the end, that's what I honestly believe.
is there any chance you'll be adding a free option to subscribestar so people can stay up to date in the interim?
The only thing I post on SubscribeStar are WIP posts which are meant as a perk for subscribers, and Public Releases which are a public post anyway (available to all).
If you want daily updates I recommend joining the Discord, as I post daily devlogs there!
As I told another dev, about a year ago Itch also made it so NSFW devs couldn't receive donations. That whole thing lasted maybe two months before they allowed it again.
Yeah - I definitely don't expect this to last very long. We'll have to see though!
I found this game out of nowhere, I can't believe the quality of it and I will follow it until is purchasable. Finally, is such a nonsense what they are doing now, the people that can't distinguish between fiction and reality is the one making this campaigns and I don't know how they can bark so loud.
They've definitely barked a little to loud on this one, in my opinion! The pushback is already starting to get pretty intense.
I'll keep trying to follow you no matter what. I'm looking forward to purchasing this when it's done. Stay strong. You have a well made product.
Thank you!
Insane situation, I can't believe they keep getting away with this stuff. Don't give up!
You dont hate payment processors enough.
Anyways, most of the reason why this is all happening is Mastercard, Visa, Paypal and Collective shout is making sure to censor any NSFW things, and they wont just stop here.
I certainly wouldn't describe my feelings as hate, but yeah, I'm not out to actively fight against these groups. Don't confuse this with giving up - I've picked my battle and decided that my focus should be and always will be to finish🔴REC.
However, that doesn't mean I won't use the platforms at my disposal to educate people against the unjust, unconstitutional, and frankly, illegal actions taken here. I'll sign whatever petitions I need to, pass on whatever information I can, but at the end of the day my goal is still to make this game.
Hope that clears up any confusion!
Thats good to hear.
Whatever happens moving forward I hope its only good things for you and most NSFW Devs affected by this.
Considering that this was caused by the same folks responsible for the DLSite situation, I think they're starting to panic considering how quickly they got exposed after pulling the same stunt on Steam.
I've been following the game since it was first posted and I have to admit that this is one of the better designed games even back in v0.1.
Sucks that this is happening on Itch.io, but I wish you all the luck going further, Moondev.
P.S. -
Seems like Itch.io wasn't crazy enough to jump off the deep end, and all of the URL Links seem to work just fine for this and other games.Nevermind that last part; some the other games on Itch.io have been suspended and/or removed entirely.Fingers crossed itch.io will come to their senses - but I'm currently 50/50 on if this game will be removed. Regardless, we keep trucking ✌️
